Why to worship?
A few days back someone asked me few questions about worshiping God. Here is a list of his questions and my answers to him:
- Does God Become happy by worshiping him?
- Do we demand something by worshiping?
- Do we please God by worshiping?
- Does God bless those only who worship him?
- If I abuse God whether he would become angry and curse me?
- What does GOD want from us?
Whether God Become happy by worshiping him?
Yes, he should be feeling happy. If God loves us so much, why shouldn’t He feels good when we remember Him.
whether we demand something by worshiping?
There are different platforms of worship.
- Worship out of fear =>(begs for excuse from unforeseen danger)
- Worship out of desire => (begs material pleasure)
- Worship out of gratitude => (no demand, only thank you)
- Worship out of love => (begs for service to God. The intention is to please God, nothing else)
It is easy to come up to the third stage. But only when God showers His unconditional mercy on us, we can come up to the 4th stage of worship — worship out of unconditional love. That is the goal. The rest 3 are just means to achieve that goal.
whether we please God by worshipping?
Depends on our motive.
Do God bless those only who worship him?
No. God fulfills everyone’s desire — even the desires of atheists. If even an atheist deserves something, God rewards him without discrimination. Those who think that they can purchase God by worshiping Him, thet are wasting their time. God is an object of love. He is not an object of trade.
If I abuse God whether he would become angry and curse me?
He will feel happy that you are angry on Him. After so many millions of lifetimes, finally you are remembering Him. He even awards liberation even to those who are absorbed in his thought out of envy. For example.. Sisupaal was envious of Sri Krishna. But Krishna awarded liberation to sisupaal, by killing him(sorry, his body) with His Sudarshan Chakra. So what to speak of His devotees, who love Him and always think favorably about Him? God awards His devotees something far greater than liberation(freedom from material miseries). He awards them, loving devotional service to Him.
Reciprocation of His unconditional love.

Well, when I reflect on how I replied, I feel as if I was hammering some things like a person whose authority must be accepted. Hey, its nothing like that. I am a seeker of truth, and I maybe I shouldn’t have replied as I replied to him. But I did so because he was asking these questions in a mood that makes you feel as if he is challenging you. I hope you won’t mind about that.
